Why does the circuit breaker trip when power is supplied?
The circuit breaker may trip when power is supplied due to:
The circuit breaker has a current rating that is too low:
- Short circuit between phases of the power supply or a ground fault in the power supply.
- The rectifier bridge is damaged, causing a short circuit between phases.
- Power supply cables are in contact.
- The power supply cables from the circuit breaker to the VFD are too long, causing excessive leakage current..
Possible solutions:
- Replace the appropriate circuit breaker with a suitable one
- Isolate and rectify the power supply cables to address the short circuit issue
- Shorten the distance of the power supply cables from the circuit breaker to the VFD or add a reactor to mitigate leakage current
- Contact the supplier for assistance
Make sure to check the power supply and the rectifier bridge of the VFD and reach out to the supplier for the best support.
